BYU, we hardly knew ya

Florida St. 54 - (7) BYU 28 : The dream ended as quickly as it started for BYU as Bobby Bowden's old ass gets a big victory in Provo. BYU sky-rocketed up in the polls after beating Oklahoma in Dallas in week 1 and devastating Tulane on the road a week ago. But then one of the most underachieving teams of this decade came into town and looked rather old school. Christian Ponder looked like freaking Charlie Ward running around and making plays all day long. He was 21-26 for 195 yards and 2 TDs through the air. He also racked up 77 yards and a TD on the ground. He was one of the three Seminoles with at least 5o yards rushing as they netted 313 yards rushing on the day. Ty Jones led the way with 108 yards rushing and 1 TD. Lonnie Pryor added 50 yards and 2 TDs also.

In addition to BYU's defense not showing up, the offense turned it over way too much. Max Hall was picked 3 times and BYU lost 2 fumbles on the day. So much for their slight National Championship hopes. BYU might (big might) still have an outside shot at a BCS bid if they can win out, but that would definitely take some help from a lot of other teams.

On the other hand, FSU has played 3 totally different games this season. A tough home loss in week 1 vs. Miami. Then they had to scrape together 2 late touchdowns to get by Jacksonville St. at home a week ago. Now this one? I'm just excited to see which Florida St. shows up next week against South Florida. Who knows? Because Bobby Bowden and Jimbo Fisher don't!
